James River Band

Good evening Regiment:
 
I wanted to thank Mrs. King and Mrs. Castelo for all their work in making uniform fitting this past week a great success.  And a huge thank you to ALL the other parents who came in to help measure all the students!  Fitting and measuring 90 students is a great deal of work and I wanted to thank each and every one of you.  Thank you also to the students who came out to help make the process move quickly!
 
Here are a few reminders for this week!!  Remember to eat a good breakfast before coming to camp!!  Its very important!!  Make sure you bring a lunch each day and bring water.  Students are NOT allowed to leave campus for lunch.  you may have lunch delivered if you would like, but you cant leave!  Lunch will run from 11:30-12:30 each day.  Be sure you are ready to go at 7:30am everyday!!  Dont be late!
 
Cruise Update:
-Well, after 7 months of approval and many bids and changes, the county has FINALLY approved our cruise set for 2018 to the Bahamas!
-I will be passing out a much more detailed handout later this week to the students, but here is the brief version:
  • The cruise will take place from Thursday, March 29th, 2018-Monday, April 2nd, 2018....this is over Easter!  This was one of the changes that we had to do.  Students will be excused from school on March 29th and March 30th.  Monday April 2nd begins spring break for the students.
  • The cost of the trip will be roughly $800 and include everything for the entire trip.
  • We will be looking for chaperones as well.
  • Look for a handout and permission slip coming out later this week.  Because the county has taken so long and we have had to make so many changes, the payments are going to come pretty quickly and we have to move fast to secure enough rooms on the cruise ship.  If you remember, this cruise will be with Midlothian HS and Manchester HS Band and Orchestra programs as well as ours.
 
The Payment plan will be as follows: (Estimated)
  • $100 Sept. 15
  • $150 Oct
  • $150 Nov
  • $100 Dec
  • $100 Jan
  • $100 Feb
  • $100 March

Tues. Aug 15th:
  • Band Camp 7:30am-3:30pm
  • Anyone who missed uniform fitting, Mrs. King will be here during lunch.
  • Wood and Iron Fundraiser from 6-8:30pm.  Just show up to the Restaurant Wood and Iron and eat in or take out and a portion of the proceeds will go to the band.  Just simply say when you pay, you are with James River Band!
 
Wed. Aug 16th:
  • Band Camp 7:30am-3:30pm
 
Thurs. Aug 17th:
  • Band Camp 7:30am-3:30pm
 
Fri. Aug 18th:
  • Band Camp 7:30am-3:30pm
  • FREE Pizza for lunch for EVERYBODY.
  • Southside Speedway performance. 
    • Arrive by 7pm to the Speedway with your instrument. 
    • Each student and one guest will get in for free. 
    • We will perform the Star Spangled Banner
 
Next Weeks Schedule:
 
Mon. Aug 21:
  • Band Camp 7:30am-3:30pm
  • Band photos at 8am.  All parents will receive an email from the photography company about ordering photos.  We will take the group shot first down at the stadium and then each student will get an individual photo for the yearly composite.  The group shot will be used in all publicity for the group including the football program, all competitions and the yearbook.

Tues. Aug 22nd:

  • Band Camp 7:30am-3:30pm
  • Students will be able to sign up to order Chik-Fila for Thursday

Wed. Aug 23rd:

  • Band Camp 7:30am-3:30pm
  • Chik-Fila money due if students are ordering

Thurs. Aug 24th:

  • Band Camp 7:30am-3:30pm
  • Chik-Fila for lunch for those students ordering.
 
Fri. Aug 25th:
  • Band Camp 7:30am-3:00pm
  • Band Camp Picnic and Performance will start at 6pm.  More details coming!
