WINTERGUARD

The James River High School Winterguard (AKA indoor guard) is an award-winning guard whose members perform and compete during the winter months. Winterguard interprets music through dance, flag, rifle, and/or sabre in a time constraint of approximately three minutes and a space constraint of a tarp that covers a gymnasium floor. Performers also use props, costumes, and color to help portray the concept of their show to the audience and judges. Each school year, auditions are held to select Winterguard team members. The Winterguard learns and performs a different themed show each competition season.
